"Both sandwiches were great, the maduros were perfectly cooked, and both the hot and mojito sauces were fantastic. Oh and HEY, they sell their own house made lard! You can't go wrong there!"
~Perry H., Durham, Yelp.Com
"My favorite restaurant in Durham. Good food, great coffee, and a charming space. Try the homemade hot sauce, it's about as perfect as you can get. Also, try their homemade cookies–amazingness!"
"I visited there today for the first time, along with my wife and my 89-year old mother - and was very, very pleased. My "Havana" sandwich had the right amount of mojo to balance the mustard and pickle - and that's where most places selling "Cuban sandwiches" fall down…the mojo is the heart of this sandwich - and it is superb here!"
"I ordered at the counter of the sunny establishment, then sat on a bench and waited while a group of customers in the back played dominoes… The pork was tender but a little crispy with just the right amount of fat. The maduros and other sides were perfection as well."
"Another benefit to Old Havana: the staff is amazing! They are helpful and inviting, which adds to the comfortable ambiance. Prices are reasonable. What a great fixture in downtown Durham!"
"So maybe the New York Times was right in naming Durham one of the 41 places in the world everybody needs to visit during 2011. I certainly need to, probably weekly, if only to go to The Old Havana Sandwich shop on East Main."
